Wink Martindale
Wink Martindale, in association with Gary Theroux’s Reserve Productions and engineer Peter Gould’s Intervale Group, will revive The History of Rock & Roll with a syndicated program kicking off the weekend of June 5/6. The series originally aired in 1969 with Robert W. Morgan as host of a 48-hour production by KHJ Los Angeles. Gary Theroux revitalized the series after an invitation from programmer Bill Drake in 1978. The new 2-hour weekly series will spotlight topics such as the Best of Folk Rock, Magic of Motown and Super Summer Songs.

  • In Olympia, 95.3 KGY would be perfect for this. KGY programming includes Ric Dees evenings, MG Kelly's 70s show on the weekend and all local DJs in other time slots. Oldies format.

  • At the moment, no word on an affiliate in this area.

    • KJR-FM ought to air this. Their ratings have been surprisingly good and this could raise them even higher.

      • It's a program that would also fit nicely on KIXI AM, which is also heard on KRWM HD2.

        • I considered KIXI but they seem content to die a slow death. I still listen to them regularly, though
