Update-- Yes, I see that some posts list dozens of Comments, but the comments are not visible. And there is no link.
Will investigate further.

No technical reason comments should be missing, that I can determine.
All I can do, going forward, is keep a tally of the total # of comments site-wide and see if there are losses over time.
Tech support has same answer.
Now it says there's only one comment.
For instance, this post had eight comments. I made the first one myself.
Now I don't see any comments nor a link to older comments.
