At KONP, we carried the Seahawks games — George saved on line costs by picking up the KIRO-AM signal on a portable radio he kept in his garage at is house. Local phone connection from garage to station at no cost. But, when the evening shadows fell and the broadcast pattern for KIRO changed, the signal got very fuzzy on that portable radio. A call to George to have him move the radio slightly to clear up the static. There were probably a couple other unconventional things about that small town station, but that was 46 years ago and I’ve got a little fuzz and static in my memory…
