The Ackerley history of KVOS-TV is incorrect on one small point. That being channel 12 the only US TV broadcaster to incorporate in Canada. CKND-TV ch 12 Winnipeg Manitoba was once KCND-TV ch 12 located just over the Canada/US border at the tiny settlement of Pembina N Dakota. Using a directional broadcasting antenna array aimed directly at Winnipeg, the original ch 12 there incorporated in Canada & operated it’s main sales office in Winnipeg. In it’s final years it was owned by Gordon McLendon who sold it to Canwest-Global of Winnipeg. They acquired a license from the CRTC & moved it to Canada as CKND-TV ch 12

I forgot to note that second owner of KVOS-TV was Wometco Inc of Miami, Fla. They owned the CBS outlet there at the time WTVJ ch 4. Here in BC, Wometco was the bottler of Coca-Cola & Sprite at the time & I believe this was also their main business enterprise in the US too.
