Ian Furness (Facebook) —
Five years ago today Milt Furness passed away. Just before 1pm. On day one of the #nfldraft I found out as I was going on the radio. No time to do anything but to do a radio show. Then cover the draft for Fox 13 the rest of the night. I thought at the time and still believe this to be true five years later: this was just what I was supposed to do. My dad was a great, old school journalist and broadcaster who was the ultimate professional. I knew that is what he would have expected me to do. I wanted to become a broadcaster because of my dad. He was a radio man before moving into tv. But most remember him for his time at KOMO. I work at a different station now but started at channel 4. And to this day, anytime I am in the Fox 13 studio I take a minute to think of Milt. He inspired me in many ways. I hope to be the same inspiration to my two kids in whatever they choose to do in life. RIP Milt!
