CBS News producer, Alicia Hastey, has publicly called out the direction of the network in a farewell letter. Hastey calls the new direction of CBS News, “a new vision prioritizing a break from traditional broadcast norms… that pressures producers and reporters to self-censor… Hastey quoted Walter Cronkite, in response to criticism, ‘If that is what makes us liberals, so be it, just as long as in reporting the news we adhere to the first ideals of good journalism — that news reports must be fair, accurate, and unbiased.’
For so long, CBS News has been anything but fair, accurate, and unbiased. CBS News has edited video on several occasions to favor that ‘liberal’ viewpoint and target Trump. Trump called CBS out on it to the tune of $Millions. Changes at CBS News are not a sign of “buckling under” but of “wising up.”
Hastey leaned on loaded terms like “courage,” “ideals,” and “vigilance” — transparent code for liberal outrage, falsehoods, and rigid commitment to the progressive agenda.
