His sister, Madeline McKenzie emailed that Patrick had a heart attack and died yesterday. “He’s had health issues the last few years but has been feeling mostly well, so this was sudden and unexpected. I saw him early yesterday afternoon and he was in good spirits, looking forward to the celebration we were planning for his 80th birthday in a few weeks.”
