Memory Shaker/Re-Posted:
Seattle radio great Bill Taylor archived and recently shared this classic 1958 KOL music survey. It inspired me to go to my music files to produce this blitz of the top 10 songs which match the survey. From early July, 1958 — here they are,
running time less than 2:00. There was something magic about the hits on the radio in the late ’50s.
Yup, 1958 was a long time ago, but these songs were all golden goodies still heard occasionally on the radio well into the late 70’s and beyond. Joining Ric Thomas on the air at KOL in ’58 and ’59: jocks Al Cummings, Ray Hutchinson, Art Simpson and Chuck Ellsworth, along with newsman John Forrest. KOL and KAYO were both riding pretty high with their pop music formats in those days.
