Sept. Nielsen 12+ quarter-hour Arbitrends for Spokane have been released & for the second month in a row an AM station has come out on top.  News/talk 590 KQNT is tied for first place with a 6.2 share along with “The Big 99 Coyote Country” KXLY-FM.  Classic rock 98.9 KKZX which had held first place for several months previous to Aug is now in third with a 5.9 share.  Rounding out the top 5 are new country “93.7 The Mountain” KDRK which maintains it’s average & in #5 spot classic hits “Key 101” KEYF.  Stations trending on a downward slide include active rock 94.5 KHTQ down to 3.9 from last month’s 4.8, also CHR “1057 Now! ” KZBD-FM.  Stations gaining shares this month include news/talk 920 KXLY-AM on an upward trend over the past 4 months, clocking in at 2.3 in Sept., also classic country “104.5 Hank FM” KNHK up to a 1.8 this month.  As is the case in many other markets, most of Spokane’s AM stations had less than a 1 share of ratings, in spite of most of them now operating FM translators.  The sports/hip-hop hybrid experiment of “103.5 The Game” 1510 KGA is among these, as are classic rockers 790 KJRB & daytimer “OZ FM” 1330 KYOZ, country 1280 KZFS & classic hits 1080 KVNI-AM.  None of the Spokane Public Radio stations subscribe to Nielsen so no ratings are available for KPBX, KSFC or KPBZ.
