Our last survey for 2019 goes north of the “dotted line” this week to Vancouver’s 1410 CKVN for their first year-end Top 20 album list.  This was the first year that 1410 returned to playing rock.  As C-FUN, the station flipped formats in Sept 1967 to an easy listening/MOR hybrid & in 1969 became Canada’s first experiment with an all-news format, changing call letters to CKVN (the “VN” in the calls stood for “Voice of News”)  The disastrous, expensive & unpopular format collapsed by 1970 & the station switched a top 40/album-rock hybrid, regaining their popularity with listeners in addition to providing competition to top 40 Boss Radio“73CKLG” & underground/album-rock 99.3 “LGFM” CKLG-FM.
