It was announced in May 1959 that Gene Autry had purchased KVI. The format flipped from Country to an Adult Contemporary style of music. Bob MacDonald was the morning personality initially. Changes quickly happened on-air over the following months. Hardwick started on the afternoon drive shift at the New KVI in August 1959. The station started heavy newspaper promotion of the music/personality format, upgraded the transmitter, referred to the sound as hi-fi KVI.
Bob had a daughter, Linda, whom I had a couple of classes with at WSU. I was heartbroken, years later to read she had passed away in her 20s.
