CNN followed up with this explanation on X: “A post regarding the two individuals arrested for throwing homemade bombs outside of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s home failed to reflect the gravity of the incident thereby breaching the editorial standards we require for all our reporting. It has therefore been deleted.”
No mention of terrorism or the truth of the matter.

In his launch speech at CNN's Atlanta headquarters, Ted Turner expressed an idealistic goal for the network.
One of his most famous and oft-quoted remarks from around the launch emphasized the network's permanence and commitment to nonstop coverage: "We won't be signing off until the world ends. We'll be on, we'll be covering it live, and that will be our last, last event. We'll play the national anthem for one time on the first of June [the launch day], and that's all."
Skeptics at the time mocked the upstart channel as the "Chicken Noodle Network" (a play on "CNN" sounding like Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup, implying it was lightweight or doomed to fail.
