Bustos Media Holdings, the radio station ownership group led by Amador Bustos, has filed applications to deploy ZoneCasting technology for FM radio stations KZTM and KDDS with the intent of offering localized coverage in the Seattle-Tacoma market.

Bottom line: they will be able to target local advertisers in their broadcasts. Those ad breaks will be similar to video streamers that target ads based on the geographical location of the viewer. — RBR.COM

  • No benefit to listeners. The stations will simply be transmitting commercials for sponsors within that local area (booster channels or translators). And you thought they might provide better content. Uh...no.
Licensed FM stations are now able to experiment with originating programming on up to 25 FM booster stations, each permitted to broadcast unique content for up to three minutes per hour.
