Bruce McMichael Obituary
Bruce A. McMICHAEL Age 81, died on October 16, 2007, with his family by his side. Bruce was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 1, 1926, to Maurice D. and Umatilla McMichael. After graduating from the University of Nebraska and serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he married Carolyn Bukacek, and they piled their belongings in a cattle truck and moved to Seattle, sight unseen. Bruce and Carolyn designed and built their home looking out to Mt. Rainier, and raised their family there. Bruce worked for many years as a radio newsman: at KIRO, KTAC, KISW, and KASY in this area, and at KNX and KFWB in Los Angeles. Among some of the major stories he covered were the Charles Manson murder trial and the Robert Kennedy assassination. Bruce was a lifelong reader, an avid follower of current affairs, a watcher of the skies, a pushover for stray cats (especially black ones), and a loving husband and father.
