Former KLSY air personality, Dave Wingert, now in Omaha at KOBM FM Boomer Radio, updates fans with a health update: To: My friends and “Extended Listener ‘Friends”. I realized that I have simply not used social media the past week and a half…to keep you ‘In Da Loop’, so please consider this post my Mea Culpa.
As I said on the air with Chuck Denver this morning “A Funny Thing Happened on the way to my shoulder replacement two Fridays ago. While they were prepping me, my anesthesiologist
(did I spell that right?) noticed my blood pressure was down in the basement. 80 over something. Which led them to pulling the plug on the operation, but sending me into a tailspin of hospital stays (mostly 5 days in ICU at Bergen Mercy). Along the way they found I was severely dehydrated….had infected blood (I believe that’s Sepsis) AND a painful nerve thing going on with my right hand. Painful to do…just about anything with it. But, thanks to the Medical Angels…the crack med team at Bergen Mercy, with the help of dozens of IV’s…..and too many blood draws to count…. we got numbers back up…filled me full of fluid AND cleaned up my blood.Soon as the swelling goes down, my hand is expected to feel bettah.
So that’s it, in a nutshell. Talk about Angels, my support team included Pat and Laura Combs, my Dear Neighbors Anne and Reed who’d drop everything to taxi me back to the ER last weekend when I wasn’t feeling so great. Church friends have been dropping off nutritious (and amazing) meals. And, I gotta mention my Spirit Companion, my furry little boy Max…who’s sitting right next to the keyboard here…following the Bouncing Prompt.
It’s my intention to drive myself back to the studio tomorrow…and see how it feels that hour in the morning. Meanwhile, my intention ….is to be Mindful….Relax and heal.Let time and Spirit do their thing. Hope to talk with you sooner than later! Oh, and prayers still gratefully accepted and appreciated.
