Wes Monroe obituary 2009

Monroe, Wesley Lee, born June 3, 1932 in Sterling, KS passed away most gracefully in the presence of his wife, her family and his children on Friday, January 9, 2009. Survived by his wife, Jeannie; friend, Joyce Monroe; sons: Mike (Kim), Steve (Anita); daughters: Kathy Jo White (Jim), Tammi Tracy; five lovely grandchildren; two beautiful great granddaughters; brothers: Harold (Janie), Lebanon, OH and Dale, Sterling, KS.

He served in the US Air Force (1949-1953), was employed by Fiberform Boats; Old National Bank; Operations Manager at Northwestern Bank, Bellingham, WA; Manager of Spokane National Bank, Whitworth Branch; President of Hylond Enterprises and Western National Corp.; President of Monroe Broadcasting Co. (KGA, KDRK, KGAA, Kirkland, WA, KEED Eugene, OR), Owner Monroe Enterprises KJUN (Puyallup, WA) and for the 11 years prior to his retirement he was justly proud of owning the Sundance Casino, Winnemucca, NV.

Wes was greatly admired in the business community and is greatly loved by his wife, his family and his friends.

      I feel fortunate to have worked at so many family operations during my career, which included KJUN. There were just a few corporate stations near the end of my time in radio.
