Alan Young was born in England but raised in Vancouver BC, so there is a Pacific Northwest connection. He worked for the CBC in Vancouver and Toronto. Read more about Alan at Wikipedia. He passed away in June, 2016 at age 96!!! Working with a talking horse can be good for your health???

The early 60’s pitch to BC advertisers shows Toronto-born actor Alan Young & “Mister Ed”. Deliberate or a coincidence?? Alan Young was well-known to Canadians from his long-time tenure on CBC network radio before Hollywood beckoned & “Mr Ed” enjoyed a short run on CBS. Profiling a show with a familiar Canadian would make sense. Saskatchewan born Art Linkletter, host of CBS’ “House party” would also be a choice for an ad sales pitch.
