It was a glorious day for jazz fans when KPLU implemented the format change & for this jazz fan, the station sounded it’s best at that time. Instead of endless repeats of “All things Considered” & “Morning Edition”, there was just one broadcast of these programs as KPLU developed it’s own award-winning news team. Over the years, talk programming has been increased in order to gain new listeners & increased donations at pledge break time. I’m personally disappointed with the level of talk now on KNKX & am particularly critical of ‘repeat’ broadcasts of these & other NPR programs instead of music. Why? In this day & age of podcast downloads & ‘on-demand’ listening, repeat programs or endlessly looping ME & ATC seems pointless. I would have been happy to hear KNKX drop ALL NPR programs, keep it’s EXCELLENT local/regional news team & broadcasts. Instead of NPR, we could have some jazz aired between local news segments making for truly compelling morning/afternoon drive shifts.

I haven’t listened to KNKX in a few months, and I turned away because of the long morning and afternoon NPR segments. I did enjoy the weekday evening jazz and blues on Saturday and Sunday.
