Tacoma Rainiers radio broadcasts in 2025

Major League Baseball has announced that the Tacoma Rainiers will add six home games to their original 2025 schedule.

Tacoma and Sacramento were originally scheduled to play a six-game series from June 10-15 on the road at Sutter Health Park. That series has since been changed from a road series to a homestand, moving all six games to Cheney Stadium.

After careful consideration, Major League Baseball requested that the series be relocated to ensure the best possible natural grass playing surface conditions while hosting both the Athletics and River Cats at Sutter Health Park for the 2025 and future seasons.

“We are extremely excited to add six more June games to our home schedule,” Team President Aaron Artman said.

Tacoma will now host 81 regular season home games, with Opening Day slated for March 28. For more information and tickets, visit https://www.milb.com/tacoma

TACOMA, WA – The Tacoma Rainiers have announced that Rylee Pay will be the new radio broadcaster for the team.

Prior to getting hired by Tacoma, Pay was formerly the Play-by-Play Broadcaster and Media Relations Assistant for the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. She also has broadcast experience in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Cotuit Kettleers.

With over 250 applicants for the position, Team President Aaron Artman said that the organization was very thoughtful and purposeful when searching for the new voice of the Rainiers.

“Rylee had the right combination of experience and creativity and was the best fit for our culture and brand – two things that we took very seriously when determining the right fit,” Artman said. “From Bob Robertson to Mike Curto, there is a legacy here in Tacoma that is unique, and I look forward to Rylee adding to that legacy on the airwaves when we kick off the season on March 28th.”

880 KIXI Seattle will be the radio home for the Tacoma Rainiers in 2025. “Listen for Rylee Pay as she brings us all the play by play action this season right here on KIXI!” (KIXI)

No mention of the team’s broadcasters is complete without Don Hill. I’m sure he had more listeners in his day than Mike Curto could have ever hoped for.

So true. So I have added a few references to the great Don Hill from the articles I found in the Trib. See articles posted above…

Right. iHeart doesn’t serve Tacoma on 850 AM (Tacoma is the COL) with Tacoma baseball because they just don’t serve Tacoma — period.
As newspapers disappear, do we really think radio is going to serve us the local stories? It will be cookie-cutter newscasts, top stories, no local street reporters, therefore, no real local reporting.

Any of the Olympia FM stations might be a better choice to carry the Rainiers games.

If you purchase a tabletop HD Radio(as I did a couple years ago; you can get them for about 50-60 bucks on Amazon or Best Buy), you don’t have to worry about KIXI’s signal, as 880 AM is on the HD3 of KRWM 106.9 FM…

Plus, the games are streamed online…

True. Or just ask Alexa to play KIXI radio.
Tacoma baseball may not be a money-maker for Seattle radio.
