KXLY’s Mark Peterson retires, Matt Gray steps in

After 43 years, Mark Peterson is stepping away from daily news. Matt Gray becomes the morning meteorologist at KXLY 4/Spokane, beginning March 3rd.

Matt joined the 4 News Now team in 2021 as a weekend meteorologist and weather reporter. In his new role, Matt will join Robyn Nance on Good Morning Northwest and KXLY+. He takes over for long-time weather forecaster Mark Peterson, who is retiring from daily news but will continue to lead Extreme Team projects for 4 News Now.

Matt is a Florida native who studied meteorology at Florida State University. He’s worked in newsrooms in Florida and Montana before landing in Spokane.
