Ousters at KING 5 and a potential pivot on DEI

Steve Soliz on X.com: The secret is out. I’m leaving @KING5Seattle in March. Our parent company is cutting costs, eliminating my position. It comes as I hit 20 years in broadcast journalism. What’s next? Not sure yet, but the search for my next adventure is now underway.
Also cut, Taylor Mirfendereski, Investigative reporter, who’s farewell message online seems to intimate that our Democracy is in jeopardy with her leaving.
TEGNA and KING Broadcasting group has removed a DEI page from their websites, according to today’s ftvlive.com blast.
Cost-cutting is being blamed for lay-offs. Maybe DEI was biting into the Tegna profits and on-air presentation, it had to go.
More changes to come at media outlets local and nationally…

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has looked into San Francisco radio station KCBS over their coverage of ICE raids and has also launched an investigation into NBC owner Comcast for its DEI policies. Change is in the air at the FCC.

Tom Cibrowksi, the president and general manager of KGO tv/San Francisco has been named CBS News president and executive editor, reporting to Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Television Stations and CBS Media Ventures.
