November 20, 1953–A disc jockey jamboree will be held in the auditorium of Jane Adams junior high school, E. 110th St. and 34th Ave. Northeast, Friday. All proceeds to go to the PTA. The program, arranged by Norm Bobrow program director for KXA, will include many well-known Seattle radio and television personalities. Among them will be Wally Nelskog, Bob Salter, and Bill Shela from KJR, Buck Ritchey from KVI, Jack Hemingway, Tad Jones, Tom Robin, and Art Schneider, all of KRSC; Al Cummings, Jim French, Gil Henry, and Russ Morgan, all of KING, and Chuck Mahaffey, Jim Warren, and Stan Boreson, all of KXA.
Bill Shela -KXA parttime (1946); KYAK/Yakima (1947); KXRN/Renton (1948) as PD; KXA/Seattle (1950) running his morning show from his apartment, featuring his wife and two daughter; served in Armed Forces Radio during the Korean war and then back to KXA (1952); transferred to KJR in January 1953; KOL in 1954 and did a 48-hour marathon from a drugstore window for March of Dimes; Station mgr of KLOQ in 1960 and 1961; Commercial mgr. of KAYO in 1962 at the age of 37.
