In the fall of 1970, I found myself kicked out of Eastern Washington State College, basically for talking back to the Radio-TV Department Chair Dr Howard Hopf I heard through some radio friends that the Army was ‘looking for disc-jockeys’ . I was unemployed…I visited a recruiter, who researched and came up with an official audition script. Oh, my draft lottery number was 358…I never would have been drafted! Basic training, then DINFOS, (the Defense Information School), then 2 years at the Far East Network on an Air Force base in northern Japan.

Your KEWC aircheck cut off going into a great tune by Iron Butterfly. It’s on my mp3 playlist.

Yup…that’s all there was on that tape from years ago…in fact I edited out a great portion of that 5-minute newscast…it was pretty bad.

I believe we all have those audio clips that will never see the light of day. We had to go through that to achieve whatever it was we achieved. It was all great fun.
