AMC: Another cable group leans into streaming

AMC Networks is reorganizing its worldwide operations following the release of its most recent quarterly earnings, which revealed that streaming revenue has now surpassed other segments as the largest portion of its business.

The operator of multiple cable channels has been shifting its strategy to prioritize content delivery to streaming audiences in the U.S. and internationally, all while preserving its traditional cable networks operations.

However, amid persistent cord-cutting trends, AMC Networks lacks compelling options for must-watch, appointment-based TV. Cable and satellite subscribers primarily retain service for sports and news—areas where AMC offers no sports content, and its sole news outlet is a licensed BBC News channel that’s also freely available on streaming platforms in the U.S. (THE DESK)
