May 29, 2009 – Evening Magazine, which debuted on KING-TV 5 Seattle in 1986, is looking for a new host. Former host John Curley left the show in April when his contract wasn’t renewed. The program has been predominantly local since 1991.
May 22, 2009 – Earthworks Entertainment has announced that it has signed an agreement with Hit Parade Radio to launch a 24 7 Oldies Radio Network in Texas featuring Larry Lujack in morning drive. Earthworks management expects to sign more than 100 stations in the first 12 to 18 months. Hall of Famer Lujack entertained at KJR Seattle in the mid 1960s before becoming a Superjock in Chicago.
May 18, 2009 – Sandusky Radio is the first to commercially launch the Quu platform on its Seattle market stations, making all commercials and programming fully interactive. Quu, Inc. is also Seattle-based.
May 15, 2009 – PD Kevin Welch has left his position at Seattle market The Mountain KMTT-FM 103.7 after two years. He previously was APD MD at KINK-FM 101.9 Portland for nine years. Over at The Wolf KKWF-FM 100.7, morning co-host Tony Russell, who had been doing his part of the show from Fort Worth, is moving to Seattle to join Fitz and Mary White in the local studio.
May 15, 2009 – KFMY-FM 97.7 Oakville, formerly The Eagle is now simulcasting Newsradio KOMO AM 1000 Seattle as KOMO-FM.
May 12, 2009 – Seattle-based Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen is selling his two Portland radio stations to a group led by former radio mogul Larry Wilson. The stations are Newsradio KXL AM 750 and The Game KXTG-FM 95.5.
May 10, 2009 – Writer and Emmy-award-winning Seattle television reporter Greg Palmer died Friday, May 8. He was 61. He started his broadcasting career at KTW Seattle, with positions at KRAB-FM, KIRO-TV and KCTS-TV. He won 13 Emmys during 13 years at KING-TV.
May 05 , 2009 – Greg Rampage takes over p.m. drive at The End KNDD-FM 107.7 Seattle, moving APD MD Andrew Harms to middays.
