December 1953 Radio listings Sea-Tac & Portland-Salem

May 7, 1953 – Radio Corporation Chairman David Sarnoff made an unusual prediction this week. He said the electronic industry’s $8,000,000,000 volume of the past seven years will be a drop in the bucket of what’s ahead for the next seven years. He said that half of this will be in products and services that don’t exist today. And he based the prediction on the use of “that tiny thing called the electron.”

Scoffs at Odds, It Was Planned
PORTLAND — The three children of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Owens were born in different years, but each has the same birthday—Dec. 16.
Becky Lynn was born four years ago, Gregory Craig three years ago and Bradley Thomas Wednesday.
A mathematics professor here figured the odds for this occurrence at 1 to 18,251,825.
Mrs. Owens scoffed when she heard the odds.“It was planned that way,” she said.
