Rock ‘n’ roll revival is 6-hour KUUU feature
VICTOR STRIEDICKE–KUUU this week dumped a living, breathing after-midnight female disk jockey for a cold indefatigable machine. But what the heck? Females on the radio are an endangered species anyhow.
Now, about tonight: Don Christi, new KUUU program director, is offering a special feature this afternoon and tonight. Since 3 p.m. KUUU has been presenting “Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival,” a six-hour recap of pop music from 1956 to 1963. The music of such folk as Bill Haley, Elvis Presley and the Everly Brothers is evident.
“We’ll have all the music that is of interest to persons in the age bracket of 25 to 34,” Christi said.

A weekly series of local recorded concerts begins 2 p.m. Sunday on KUOW with the performance of Kronos String Quartet…
An exhibition game with the Utah Stars, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, begins the Super Sonics basketball season on KOMO. Preseason broadcasts, also are set October 12 and October 17…
Lord Beswick and Alfie Howard will discuss British goods on the British Hour, which begins at 12:15 p.m. Saturday on KXA.
A new weekly information feature has been introduced on KZAM. From Noon to 2 p.m. each Sunday, KZAM has the Sunday Magazine Show, which is packed with features about people and issues in the news. Jim Stutzman is anchorman this week for reports prepared by all members of the KZAM news staff. Tentative topics include a discussion on conversion of solid waste into methane, interviews with Seattle City Council candidates and a discussion of what the Kingdome might mean to the Seattle’s International District.
