News network replaces peacock with Mr. Yuk face

MSNOW is a terrible brand choice for what was MSNBC. Barrett Media says, “So, when the new name and logo debuted, the idea that you’re trying to shoehorn “My Source for News, Opinion, and the World” into the new name is a dumb idea. No one — not an exaggeration, literally no one — is going to call it “My Source for News, Opinion, and the World.” It reeks of someone at the top coming up with a bad idea and name, and all the underlings being too afraid to say, “Hey, boss? This idea is terrible.”

KXXO Mixx 96.1 was never my cup of sugar cookie iced almond milk latte blended. I often thought the station was prime for a format change. There should have been an effort to try something new, before resorting to a sale to Bustos Media. A measly $1.5 million. Seriously?

The Nexstar-Tegna deal is done. Upon closing, Nexstar, together with its partners, will have 265 full-power television stations in 44 states and the District of Columbia and 132 of the country’s 210 television DMAs. The combined company will have stations in 9 of the top 10 DMAs, 41 of the top 50 DMAs, 62 of the top 75 DMAs and 82 of the top 100 DMAs, covering, in total, 80% of U.S. television households.

One moment. Let me check… No, there is no GOOD NEWS to report today.

That’s the best I have heard so far. I am certain there will be many other ideas offered.

With the CBS and Skydance merger close to approval and CBS showing interest in expanding its owned and operated television footprint across the Nation coupled with Tegna being sold to Nexstar and Sinclair looking to sell some if not the majority of its broadcast TV stations; expect a number of stations around Seattle to change ownership and or affiliation. Some of these changes may be unexpected, as a way to gain regulatory approval.

I can see that happening. KIRO 7 and KING 5 most likely.
