Michael Wilbon, 67, co-host of ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption and NBA analyst, is taking an indefinite leave of absence for multiple health issues. He stressed this is not retirement but “a trip to the injured list,” hoping to return. Wilbon admitted ignoring earlier warnings from doctors and close friends, including Tony Kornheiser, noting “the bill has come due.” The issues are purely health-related, unrelated to alcohol or gambling. ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro expressed full support. Wilbon has co-hosted PTI since 2001; the show marked its 25th anniversary with contracts through 2028. He has a history of a 2008 heart attack and Type 2 diabetes, recently feeling “beyond exhausted.”
