Why?????
Travis is great and does a fantastic job. I enjoy watching all the unique things he helps viewers to see. I don’t believe just because management changes, that they need to change everything for the staff.
I understand MJ’s retiring but, Travis I think the new management, blew it.
I am going to greatly miss Travis. I watched because of Travis and MJ. Now that they are gone, I am not sure that I will continue to watch this morning news station. Thank you Travis! I will really miss your style 😢
Well done, young man! Follow your heart, and you’ll never go wrong. I’m sure we will see you somewhere, doing what you love. Best to you and your family 😊
There are several local news stations that you could watch, but I have been a Q13 viewer because of their unique style. I appreciated the humor, the honesty, and will truly miss people like M.J. and Travis. It is sad that once they switched the name to “Fox13,” some of the staff went away. I fear that they will become a cookie-cutter station. Many fans will leave too.
Travis, I appreciate the fun and diversity you brought to Q13/ Fox 13. It is unfortunate that you will be leaving, despite some of these other comments, you will be missed. It saddens me to hear some of these comments, I thought we had come a lot further. I would like to think these comments do no reflect the majority of us here in the Pacific NW. Best of luck on your future endeavors!
I agree that the few negative comments in no way reflect the thoughts and feelings of his audience. It saddens me to read the negative comments – shows just how much we need your voice. Can’t wait to see Travis again.
I totally agree with you. Typical of the way FOX news works. They don’t want to tell the truth. They want the News spun there way. I knew right off the get go when Q13 flipped over to FOX13. You can count on more departures from channel 13. This is sad.
Or, in the case of Travis mayfield, you mean Prada.
Mayfield has his fans. He would have been the best of the current crew to fulfill the role management asked him to take. His refusal may mean the end of his career in tv news.
It’s funny when you compare the comments here from the 88 positive comments MJ McDermott received about her Q13 departure. (Far more than any recent post on PSM) I never knew or cared about her sexuality, marital status, gender, or social media presence. She was good at what she did and let her on air work speak for itself. Exactly how it should be and a great example for others.
He was simply giving us some insight as to who he is. He was sharing his life with us…much as Bill Wixey shared his battle with cancer and MJ shared her past careers. Many people didn’t care to hear those things either..or about their kids ect. But that’s how local morning news casts work. It’s more than just about delivering the news, it’s about connecting with members of the audience.
he does his little segways about breaking news etc I find his style irritating because he’ll emphasize too many words I find it irritating
And with some of the post that he’s done in the past and the other day showing him with his pearl necklace on etc I’m betting that he will wear a dress on his last day at Fox 13 Seattle
He’s talked about that in different tweets in the past and let everybody know that he’s gay fine I don’t care if he’s gay or not. but I think he’s going to be crossing over the line and that most of the people that will see that won’t like it but who knows.
The trend in TV today is to kick the boss on the way out the door. Where it may be deserved in some cases I think it shows a lack of professionalism. It may also limit your future employment options. Tweeting and posing on social media is like crack cocaine to so many these days. So many see themselves AS the news…….
To anyone familiar with how FOX structures local news programs, this was to be expected. This is in line with other FOX O&Os, one anchor or reporter is selected for this role. As described by FTVLive, this would have put Travis in a pumpkin patch with a microphone or on a downtown hillside as snowboarders slide down the street. Goofy, human interest fluff.

Thank you Travis – I will really miss your professionalism, humor, kindness and willingness to share who you are. I’m gone from what used to be Q now.
Take care – you are truly special!

No pity for the journalism class of America. Good riddance Pravda.

That is the problem. He didn’t report the news. He tried to become the news. Sad state of journalism today.

Sadly so many need and thrive on the attention of a tweet or facebook post (sometimes at the cost of a career).

So very sad to see you go. We always looked forward to your smiling face. We wish nothing but a wonderful future for you and your beautiful family
