In the midst of all the sad news in our world, Travis always brought a smile to us..always excellent reporting on serious or lighthearted stories..not sure what Fox management is thinking..wonder if they’ve heard the saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”..we will be checking out other options for morning news!!

So sad to learn Travis is leaving Q13. The news team will not be the same. Travis, we’re hopeful to see you on another station soon! You were always the highlight of the morning news program. Message to Management: You ruined the News Team! Bill, Liz, MJ, Adam and the others are wonderful. What are you doing to them?

First MJ leaving and now Travis? Who’s next Adam? Liz? Or Bill? If this is part of Fox 13 restructuring, you’ve restructured me out as a longtime faithful watcher. Guess you don’t know good chemistry of people working together that attracts an audience. Too bad

Man,why mess with a great recipe?
Channel 13 is the only channel my hubby & I watch. The chemistry is so great, a darn shame. Someone is being very short-sighted.

I’m just sick that Travis is leaving. He was always so kind and upbeat. Who wouldn’t want him on the anchor desk? I know you will find another job real soon Travis. I’m going to miss your Seahawk suit jacket and your colorful socks. Good luck and keep us posted so we know where to find you.

Big mistake New Management…we won’t be watching FOX13 anymore. Q13 was staffed with real people who were relatable and spontaneous. You’ve lost or let too many of those people go. I hope we will find Travis on another station soon. Good luck Travis…keep us posted ❤

This will be a huge mistake for Fox 13 news. There are too many changes going on with this station and this one was a huge blow. I will no longer be watching Fox 13 news. I know I am just one viewer, however, I use to always talk about Q13 and how I watched it every morning to a wide variety of people word of mouth is the best marketing. Not anymore with this new channel.

Matt Lorch, Walter Kelley, Tim Joyce, MJ McDermott and now Travis Mayfield. I am not sure what Fox has planned for this station but I’m not sure I want to be a part of it. Still love Adam and Bill though. Thanks Travis for helping me drink coffee all these mornings. I truly enjoyed your segments, your personality and honesty. I will miss you greatly. Good luck!

KCPQ is sadly getting rid of great employees, who brought a middle of the road view with a real Human Interest view as well!. Travis Mayfield being the latest being squeezed out! We loved hearing both sides of issues for many years!
We are done with the station and it’s turn
To One Sided reporting and Cost Cutting!

Friend, you lent your credibility and leave with it enhanced by your loyalty to the FOX team. As a Seattle liberal, for me, your impartiality gave the conservative station the reputation of the fair one, the one that would meet in the middle to hammer out issues. That deserves a promotion, and I’m thrilled you’re giving yourself one. Eight years is a long time to do graveyard. One or two sunny Seattle seasons with family and your friends is well earned. I’m sure many a Seattle businessperson will offer to hitch themselves to your star. Happy hunting!

I am sorry to see and hear that Travis is leaving channel 13. I enjoyed his humor and clever quotes. What is going on with Fox 13 that so many interesting persons are leaving their staff? I noticed the weekend staff has changed a lot too. We need more sunny people like Travis in the morning. I wish him and his family the best of luck. I hope Travis is happy with the team that he will enhance someday.

Well since Travis is leaving I guess I’m leaving too I don’t appreciate the way that this has been handled and he has been an Important part of my mornings and I really appreciate his perspective. I don’t know how many more people will be leaving KCPQ but if I want news I can get it on channel 4. I watched KCPQ because of people like Travis and too many people have left KCPQ…It Isn’t hard to see that a great deal of the decisions being made are political…probably personal on the part of the GM but definitely political. The bottom line is the company kind of sucks now, you need to go back to your old general manager.

So many of my favorite news people leaving. First it was Steve Pool at KOMO, then ALI left Q13. I was left with my favorites with Adam, MJ, and Travis and his crazy socks. Then MJ left. Travis always made me smile at the start of the day (we cried with him when he lost his son) but celebrated with him watching the two growing into young people from babies. Now he is leaving. Adam will be the reason I will stay with Fox13 for morning news. Best of luck, Travis. Your honesty and bright humor will be missed. God bless you, and thank you for so many enjoyable mornings.

I am a more understanding and happy person due to him. I personally would like to thank you Travis for being one of the most honest people I know. Bummer Travis is leaving. I really enjoyed him and MJ being a part of my morning. I’m not sure I’ll continue to watch Fox news and may switch over to King 5. I pretty much have stayed with Fox because I’ve grown to know so much about the anchors that I feel emotionally attached. Without that human component, there’s not much keeping me loyal to that specific news channel. I will be sad to see you go Travis and I wish you the best of luck on future endeavors. You made the start of every morning much more enjoyable the last 9 years.

There are several local news stations that you could watch, but I have been a Q13 viewer because of their unique style. I appreciated the humor, the honesty, and will truly miss people like M.J. and Travis. It is sad that once they switched the name to “Fox13,” some of the staff went away. I fear that they will become a cookie-cutter station. Many fans will leave too.

It’s funny when you compare the comments here from the 88 positive comments MJ McDermott received about her Q13 departure. (Far more than any recent post on PSM) I never knew or cared about her sexuality, marital status, gender, or social media presence. She was good at what she did and let her on air work speak for itself. Exactly how it should be and a great example for others.

He was simply giving us some insight as to who he is. He was sharing his life with us…much as Bill Wixey shared his battle with cancer and MJ shared her past careers. Many people didn’t care to hear those things either..or about their kids ect. But that’s how local morning news casts work. It’s more than just about delivering the news, it’s about connecting with members of the audience.

he does his little segways about breaking news etc I find his style irritating because he’ll emphasize too many words I find it irritating

And with some of the post that he’s done in the past and the other day showing him with his pearl necklace on etc I’m betting that he will wear a dress on his last day at Fox 13 Seattle

He’s talked about that in different tweets in the past and let everybody know that he’s gay fine I don’t care if he’s gay or not. but I think he’s going to be crossing over the line and that most of the people that will see that won’t like it but who knows.

He can always go back to radio

The trend in TV today is to kick the boss on the way out the door. Where it may be deserved in some cases I think it shows a lack of professionalism. It may also limit your future employment options. Tweeting and posing on social media is like crack cocaine to so many these days. So many see themselves AS the news…….

To anyone familiar with how FOX structures local news programs, this was to be expected. This is in line with other FOX O&Os, one anchor or reporter is selected for this role. As described by FTVLive, this would have put Travis in a pumpkin patch with a microphone or on a downtown hillside as snowboarders slide down the street. Goofy, human interest fluff.
