Rosemary Wright filled in at the KHQ 6 (NBC) anchor desk yesterday, as she has before. Best known for weather and stories from around town, she looked comfortable in the chair and handled the newscast with ease.
Rosemary Wright is a weather forecaster and news reporter at KHQ / Nonstop Local (KHQ6 and FOX28) in Spokane. She is originally from Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, and graduated summa cum laude from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts with a degree in broadcast journalism and documentary film. She has also worked as a weather anchor and reporter at KTMF in Missoula. Before joining the Spokane newsroom she reported independently in Orange County, with a particular interest in local crime and hard news. She has said she wanted to be an anchor-reporter since a hometown station interviewed her at age five.
While many stations are already cutting local-news hours and repeating segments from earlier in the day or the night before, a bigger shift is looming: consolidated news operations, and in some cases a rotating loop of packages with no anchors at all.
Local radio followed a similar path. Most TV markets are likely to move through the same stages—and some may eventually present the news with AI.
